Vehicle Release Information
All vehicles require a release obtained from the front counter of the Brea Police Department, as well as a fee of either $110 for stored vehicles or $162 for impounded vehicles. Fees may be paid by cash, credit cards, cashiers check, or money order payable to the City of Brea. Checks are not accepted. Vehicles are only released to the registered or legal owner(s) of the vehicle and this person must have a valid driver's license. In the event the registered or legal owner does not possess a valid driver's license, a driver must be present who does have a valid driver's license. Once a release is obtained, contact the tow company for total storage fees and hours the vehicle may be retrieved from the tow yard located at 509 W Lambert Road in Brea. Transferring Vehicle Ownership
You will need to go to the Department of Motor Vehicles and submit all applicable paperwork in order to transfer ownership of the vehicle into your name. Vehicles will only be released to the registered or legal owner(s). A bill of sale, pink slip, or title may be presented to the Brea Police Department as proof of ownership for new vehicles.
