Social Media Terms of Use
Purpose
To build communication and trust with our residents and visitors, and encourage participation through social media platforms.
Examples of social media platforms include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Snapchat, TikTok, LinkedIn, website blogs with commenting capabilities, forums and emergency notification services.
Goals
The Brea Police Department aims to effectively use Social Media Accounts to:
- Provide information
- Support community engagement and outreach
- Support marketing and promotional campaigns
- Frame the public conversation around the Brea Police Department
- Assist with recruitment
Please be aware that when engaging with this agency through Social Media, you agree to the following:
The Brea Police Department does not necessarily endorse, support, sanction, encourage, verify or agree with Third Party comments, messages, posts, opinions, advertisements, videos, promoted content, external hyperlinks, linked websites (or the information, products or services contained therein), statements, commercial products, processes or services posted on any Social Media Site.
Terms of Use Guidelines
Comments posted to this page will be monitored and inappropriate content will be removed as soon as possible and without prior notice. The Brea Police Department reserves the right to remove inappropriate content, including, but not limited to:
- Comments in support of, or in opposition to, any political campaigns or ballot measures
- Comments that are not topically related or out of context, including random or unintelligible comments
- Comments which may reasonably interfere with, inhibit, or compromise law enforcement investigations, police tactics, police responses to incidents and/or the safety of police staff and officers
- Conduct in violation of any federal, state or local law
- Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity and/or violence
- Content that includes unlawful harassment or threats of violence
- Content that is false or any malicious statements concerning Brea Police Department employees, the City of Brea, or its operations
- Content that defames or threatens any person, group, or organization
- Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, national origin, physical or mental disability or sexual orientation
- Content that violates a legal ownership interest of any other party
- Content which violates the right to privacy
- Defamatory or personal attacks
- Disclosure of any proprietary, confidential, or privileged information
- Harassment or content which constitutes and/or facilitates stalking
- Information that may tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems
- Posts or comments that contain external links
- Profane, obscene, or pornographic content and/or language
- Repeated postings of inappropriate or inflammatory material
- Sexual content or links to sexual content
- Solicitations of commerce, including but not limited to advertising of any business or product for sale
- Statements in support of or opposition to political campaigns, candidates, or ballot measures
